During the last trip, instead of the cardigan I had been knitting, I made this shawl called Follow Your Arrow, designed by Ysolda Teague. It was designed as for a Mystery KAL, containing two sets of clues every week. You need to pick either Clue A or B, and either fits perfectly with your previous clues. Since the KAL is already over, I peek through everyone’s project photos and decided to go for the ones that I liked. I did not see many projects (none, in fact) that are knitted exactly the same as mine (although, there got to be some people who are knitting the same design as mine, for there are over 3000 projects on Ravelry).
I am quite happy with the way it turned out. Some details here.
先日編んでいたカーディガンはもう袖が編み終わりそうだったので、10日間の旅のお供には別なプロジェクトを持参。Ysolda TeagueのFollow Your Arrowです。数ヶ月前にMystery KALという、毎週新しいClue（謎解きのカギ）が送られてくるタイプのKAL(Knit Along)が開催されていました。新しいのは、毎週2種類のカギが用意されていて、どちらを選んでもぴったりと収まるということ。つまり2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 =32通りのデザインが出来てしまう。 もちろん、KALは既に終わっているので、私はRavelryで大勢のプロジェクトページを隈なく探索し、自分の欲しいデザインを見つけ出しました。詳しくはこちら。 糸は、以前スウェーデンのニッターさんから購入したもの。いつも自分で染めた糸で編んでいるショールが美しくて、連絡していくつか譲ってもらいました。この2色で何かを編みたいと思っていたので、ピッタリでした。全貌は普通の三角ショールではなくて、変形四角のような形です。
I’ve acquired some yarns during this trip, some were given, some were bought. Among them, Sparrow yarn from Quince (a beautiful linen yarn) is the one I am using the next. I’ve swatched for the project already.
旅行中にいくつか糸をゲットしました。Squamのお土産や、毛糸屋さんで買ったもの。そのなかでも次に使おうと思っているのがQuinceのSparrow。もうスウォッチも編み、ばっちりゲージを取りました。針サイズを下げてほぼゲージ通り。 ちなみに、リネン糸は編んでいる間に崩れて大惨事になりがちなので、こんなふうにジップロックに入れるか、それとも手で玉に巻くと良いようです。

そして、現在編んでいるのはamirisu 4号に掲載したWhispers。KALを先週末からスタートさせました。皆さん編んでますか？こっそり参加している方、是非Ravelryボードにコメントを寄せて下さいね。 
I ended up using a different linen yarn for this project, with a set of smaller needles. Linen yarns do not stretch, thus linen fabrics tends to get a bit loose when knitted. After several years of training, now I can keep the tension even with non-stretchy yarns. Practice makes the difference.
私は結局リネンの方を取りました。こちらも針サイズを1号下げています。リネンの糸は伸びないので、ウールに比べて緩めになってしまいます。ですので、細めの針でキッチリ編んでいます。 以前は夏糸で編むのが楽しくなかった私ですが、流石に何年も鍛錬を重ね手が安定して筋肉が付いてきたのでしょうか、気がついたらスルスルの糸でもテンションが保てるようになっていました。ほんと、練習あるのみですね。 
今はちょうどウエスト下あたり。長さは自分の丈に調節しています。 リネンのプライ糸なので斜行してしまうのですが、昨日もプロの方に「全然気にしなくていいわよ、そんなの」と言って頂き、全然気にしない事にしました。それに、上のスウォッチを見ても分かる通り、水通しするとほぼ直ります。 
Lastly, these are what I bought at the Squam Art Fair – stitch markers and a case from Fringe Supply Co. I had been eyeing these for a while on her website, so I am quite happy about the purchase.
最後に、先日Squam Art Fairで買ったもの紹介。Fringe Supply Co.という色々な小道具を売っているショップでステッチマーカーを購入。皮のケースが可愛くて。大のお気に入りになりました。
