It’s Friday night, but a less exciting one than it used to be.  I’ve got so much work, so much that a mere thought of the amount makes me feel numb.  But, this is my first real weekend since I’ve moved to Kyoto, and I am determined to do at least one touristy thing.  Kyoto has tons of things to see, not to mention many antique shops and great cafes.  If you take a look at Tripadvisor’s Top 10 Places to Visit in Japan, 5 are in Kyoto.  You must come and visit one day.

It’s been 2 weeks since I moved here.  Most of the boxes are gone, but my kitchen will be refurbished soon so that I still can’t cook at home.  I miss cooking, but then, I am too busy to cook right now.  If you take a look at this picture below, Tokuko walking in front of me through the tunnel, imagine these leaves are the things we’ve got to do before September.  We cannot see the other side of the tunnel… yet.  I believe there will be an end of the tunnel.

I am so excited this evening the podcast episode of my interview is now live.  One of my cabin mates at Squam this year, Helen, has a knitting podcast called Curious Handmade, and she interviewed me one evening after the Squam Art Fair.  It was after the Fair, where we spent almost 3 hours standing and chatting with people, and was almost midnight (Tokuko and most of our cabin mates were in bed).  But it was a fun interview and I really enjoyed it.  Hope you will like it, too.

金曜日の夜。会社勤めをしていたころに比べると、「スペシャルな」感じはありません。とにかく仕事が山ほどあるし。この週末は隠ってamirisuの原稿を書かなければならないの。ですが、絶対に1ヶ所はどこかに行こうと決めています。東京で見逃したバルテュス展か、お寺か。今週は祇園祭で、夜の四条通をひやかしました。前祭りのハイライトの時は残念ながら、事務所のインターネットの手配やら事務作業やらで出かけられず。でも今年は後祭りもあるのです。やった。

引越してきて2週間。段ボール箱は大方片付きまして、やっと洗濯機も設置ができました。毎日汗だくなので、洗濯ができない日々は本当に辛かった。キッチンはご親切な大家さんのご好意で改装して頂けることになり、つまり、まだ暫く使えません。ですが、このところ料理をしている時間が無いので、まあいいか、と思っています。上の写真、Cape Codで緑のトンネルの中をトクコさんと歩いているときに撮ったのですが。この葉っぱが仕事の山だと想像してみて下さい。2人で掻き分けているものの、まだ出口が見えません。今そんな状況です。

ニュースと言えば、Squamで同じキャビンだったヘレンがCurious Handmadeという編み物ポッドキャストをやっていて、私もインタビューして貰いました。Squamの間に他にもBrooklyn Tweedのオーナー、ジャレドや、Squamの主催者のエリザベスもポッドキャストに登場。私の登場したエピソードが今日公開になりました。英語ですが、良かったらどうぞ。

この日は夕方からSquam Art Fairで、6時から9時半くらいまでずっとブーズで大勢の来場者と喋り続け、その会場からキャビンまでの帰り道あまりにも真っ暗で道に迷い、やっと辿り着いて皆んなが寝静まった夜中に録音されたものです。かなり疲れていたらしく、大分ゆっくり喋っています。が、楽しかった。編み物のポッドキャストって何？って感じでしょう？最近流行っているらしいのですよ。

もう1つのニュースはといえば、ヘアサロン難民から脱出！会社の近所に素敵なサロンを見つけました。今日から新しい髪型です。ヤッホー。これまで色々とスタイリストさんたちにリクエストを出してきましたが、生まれて初めて全部聞いてもらえました。これまでの方々は、私の憶測では、技術不足でリクエストに応えられなかったのだったと思われます。
