Yesterday I was randomly searching through new apps on iPhone, and found a couple of good ones. One of them is called Sleep Cycle. It analyzes your sleeping cycles by your movements during sleep, and catches the moment to wake you up when your sleep is light. You have to put your iPhone on your bed somewhere close to your pillow, and the phone can interpret the body movements. I tried it last night with some doubt. Because I was catching cold I woke up many times during the night, so I am not sure if it had correctly caught my movements… But anyway what I liked about it was that the alarm was very relaxing and it starts with a very small sound.…
I just made my debut at the knitting group meetup in Tokyo! I not only found a place where I can talk about knitting, but also made really exciting new friends – 16 of them in one evening. If you are in the area and have a slightest interest in knitting, this is the place to go! I wonder why I didn’t before tonight. The main language is English but people speak Japanese, so basically anyone can join. Today we had 2 guys who never had tried any knitting before, but they received a very kind and caring first knitting lecture :)I had so much fun! I feel like I can actually rebuild my life from here… I am that uplifted tonight.
This is the current work-in-progress. I am ordering some yarn for a big project, but it’s taking so long to get here. During the while, I am trying really hard to finish this sweater. The york part is really so long, and I felt quite uneasy after reaching the under-arm part for both the front and a sleeve. Especially the sleeve became unusually long. Hope the instruction is correct and everything will be fine in the end. Photo copyright: http://www.kimhargreaves.co.uk
My nailist also studies chinese astrology, and the other day she checked up on my fortune while we were doing my nails. She said that last and this year have been my bad luck years, but things will be better next year. I don’t believe in astrology nor palm reading nor fortune telling, and I’d never ever had anyone tell me about my fortune. But it’s been such depressing 2 years that I feel like I want to believe her. These days I am thinking about quitting my job and just go somewhere else to start over. 10 years ago I was full of all kinds of hopes, and I had close friends and boyfriend to always be there and support me. In this…
I haven’t updated my blog for a while, but that does not mean I had been neglecting it. There is a time when you just want to absorb goodies without giving anything out. I watched a lot of movies, books, traveled, and knitted a lot. It’s autumn, it’s beautiful outside, and I feel like I need to exert my internal energy somewhere because this time of the year I am twice as active as the usual time.
I’ve been to many concerts and lives, but this one was one of the best I’d ever been to!!! I LOVE ELIOT!!!!!
Why people keep asking me what I am going to do for summer vacation? I don’t like summer. Or, I should say, I don’t like summer in Japan. The word “summer” doesn’t bring me any pleasant feelings nor nostalgia.Maybe, this year, I should go to Italy or perhaps to le nord. Or perhaps to New Zealand to enjoy their winter.
This is truly a wonderful book, if you have slightest interest in yarn or spinning. It teaches you how to mix colors to create those one-of-the-kind yarn. It is interesting that fiber is like paints, if you mix various colors too much, it just becomes muddy brown. Anyway, I know none of you are interested. Sorry! The famous book by the physicist Richard Feynman. I read it when I was 13 or 14, and largely influenced by it. I borrowed all the physics books from the school library and, I confess now, never returned them. Those books were in the library for at least several years, and no one before me ever opened them, and looked absolutely brand new. Anyway,…
Arrived on Friday night. My newest room mate. The box was so huge, and I am sure the delivery guy looked smug and suppressing a laugh. I chose the most basic type, a spinning wheel called Traditional made by Ashford in New Zealand. At first I was planning to buy one that is narrower and takes less space, but when I tried it I didn’t like it that much. It’s unfinished wood so I am going to have to finish the surface with oil, but it’s ok, for I did not like the lacquered wood either. The bottom photo is the first skein I made with this wheel! …
